ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental difference affecting attention, organisation, focus, activity level and impulse regulation.

ADHD presents differently from person to person.

For some adults, it may involve differences in organisation, follow through, time management or maintaining focus on tasks that do not hold interest.

Others may experience rapid thinking, restlessness, difficulty slowing down, inconsistent attention, emotional intensity or periods of overwhelm and burnout.

Many adults develop highly effective ways of managing, while everyday demands may still take more effort than they appear to others.

ADHD is not simply about distraction or hyperactivity.

It affects how people focus, organise, prioritise, regulate attention and manage everyday demands over time.

Why assessment matters

Attention, organisation and day-to-day difficulties can be affected by many different factors.

A thorough assessment helps clarify whether ADHD best explains the overall pattern, while also considering other possible explanations and whether more than one factor may be involved.

Cube Clinic uses a structured adult ADHD assessment model involving:

Clinical interview

Developmental history

Questionnaires

Attention and organisational functioning

Supporting information where available

Review of assessment information

Assessment outcomes are based on the overall clinical picture rather than any single questionnaire or screening measure.

Cube Clinic provides online ADHD assessment for adults across New Zealand.

The assessment follows five ADHD-friendly guided steps from booking through to results.

The service is professionally guided, with care taken at each stage.

Cube Clinic adopts a neuroaffirming approach. ADHD is understood as a neurodevelopmental difference, with strengths as well as challenges, rather than viewed through a deficit-based model.

People come to assessment for many reasons. Cube Clinic provides a clear answer to whether ADHD may help explain long-standing patterns and difficulties experienced across different areas of life.

Built from professional and lived experience

Cube Clinic was shaped by both professional expertise and lived neurodivergent understanding.

The clinic was designed to make the assessment process clear, accessible and easy to navigate, while maintaining thorough assessment and strong professional standards.

The result is a service built around careful assessment, guided steps, clear findings and practical reports.

The meaning behind the cube

Cube Clinic is inspired by the Necker cube: a simple image where perception can shift.

The same cube

Seen differently.

Nothing about the cube itself changes.
Only the way it is understood.

Seeing differently is only the first shift.
Understanding differently is where assessment begins.

That idea sits at the heart of our work.

The same person

Understood differently.

Too often, adults come to ADHD assessment after years of being understood through deficit, behaviour, or diagnosis first.

Assessment can shift the perspective.
Through the right lens, a lifetime of experiences can begin to make more sense.

Cube Clinic is built around that shift.
We don’t see deficit. We see difference.

Because the most important shift is not changing the person.
It is changing the way they have been seen and understood.

Cube Clinic operates within a structured clinical team model.

The service brings together clinical leadership, appropriately trained and experienced ADHD clinicians, client support and clear systems to support consistent, high-quality adult ADHD assessment.

Cube Clinic is a neurodivergent-friendly service, with professional expertise and lived experience represented across ADHD and related neurodevelopmental conditions.

Clinical leadership

Cube Clinic was developed and is clinically led by Dr Clare, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, with a PhD in Psychiatry.

Dr Clare’s interest in ADHD began more than twenty-five years ago through a project investigating ADHD and related neurodevelopmental conditions within prison settings. The project identified high rates of previously unidentified neurodevelopmental conditions and contributed to policy change.

Adult ADHD assessment and neurodevelopmental presentations have remained an ongoing area of clinical interest and expertise throughout her career. She has worked with hundreds of adults seeking a clearer understanding of whether ADHD may best explain their experiences.

Cube Clinic was also shaped by Dr Clare’s own later-life neurodivergent assessment and diagnosis experience.

That experience made the purpose clear:

Cube Clinic brings together expertise in adult ADHD assessment, clinical neuropsychology, professional experience and lived neurodivergent understanding. The result is a service built around thorough assessment, clear steps, clear findings and practical reports.

ADHD clinicians

Cube Clinic clinicians are appropriately trained, with experience in ADHD and a range of adult presentations.

They guide clients through the assessment interview, helping gather a clear picture of current experiences, developmental history, strengths and areas of difficulty.

Their work sits within the Cube Clinic assessment model, supporting high-quality, consistent adult ADHD assessment.

Client support

The client support team assists with booking, questionnaires, communication and appointment coordination.

Their role is to help clients move through the assessment pathway clearly and confidently.
